About Shoes: The Ultimate Accessory

in Fun Stuff

Shoes, shoes, wonderful shoes. Yes women have a love affair with shoes, well most women anyway. Why this should be is a mystery, but that is just the way it is and the sooner we accept it the better.

What could be better than strutting down the street in a pair of new high heels? Can’t you just hear the clip and click of the heels as they ricochet off the ground? Is there anything sweeter in life? These days we are spoilt for choice and no woman should be without a pair of heels, a pair of pumps and a pair of strappy sandals – high of course, and a pair of classy boots. And for a little decadence how about a pair of red shoes?

Seriously though you don’t have to pay a fortune for a glamorous pair of shoes, there are some wonderful shoes to be found on the high street. But lets take just a peek at some of the most expensive shoes in the world, just for fun.
At $50,000 you can get a pair of Diamond-Encrusted Custom Nikes,…. hmmm.  No Thanks! The shoes which contain 11 carat chocolate coloured diamonds were bought by ‘Outkasts’  Antwan ‘Big Boi’ Patton. Well whatever floats your boat!

For just a snip you can purchase Stuart Weitzman’s ‘Diamond Dream’ Stilettos for $500,000. The strappy sexy sandals are arrayed with no less than 1,420 Kwiat colourless diamonds set in platinum.

Just imagine someone somewhere has the money to buy these little creations? Then of course they will have to put them straight into the safe. The pieces of art, for that is what they are, were worn at the 2007 Oscars by Anika Noni Rose. Who? Anika Noni Rose was one of the stars of the movie ‘Dreamgirls’.

With a price tag of $666,000, who knew the ruby red slippers from the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz would become so valuable?  We all remember Dorothy clicking her heels in the ruby slippers in the wonderful film. The shoes have two bows adorned with three red glass jewels, rhinestones and beads. It’s understood there were several pairs of the shoes created for the film. But there are just four remaining. One was stolen from the Judy Garland Museum and are still ‘at large’. Another pair is at the Smithsonian Institution. Meanwhile, a third pair was auctioned off at Christie’s for $666,000.

Or perhaps you might prefer the Stuart Weitzman Tanzanite Heels at $2,000,000. These little numbers were designed by Weitzman in collaboration with jeweller Le Vian. Together they colluded to assiduously cut and match 185 tanzanite and 28 carats of diamonds. So far no one has been photographed wearing the swanky sandals.

But said  to be the most expensive shoes in the world are the Stuart Weitzman Rita Hayward Heels coming in at $3,000,000.  These posh puppies were inspired by a pair of earrings worn by Rita Hayward. The copper coloured satin shoes are built around the earrings and are bedecked  with rubies sapphires and diamonds. At the 2006 Academy Awards, the shoes were worn by Kathleen ‘Bird’ York.

So there you have it,  just a few of the most precious and pricey shoes in the world.  But lets face it, you could look just as good in a pair of shoes you paid just $50 or less for.

Or try Ebay for some great bargains, some still with the labels on.

Shoes are an accessory and can be both practical and sexy. But if you can combine both, then you are onto a winner.

What could give you a better lift than stepping out on a rainy day in a pair of dark ruby red boots, or dancing the night away in sparkling gold evening sandals, or hear the stifled gasps as you sashay into that meeting in a pair of stunning black or navy killer heels with the perfect suit. Need I go on?

Remember shoes can be powerful. So don’t look down-at-heel, there is no excuse, with so many bargains around these days. We all owe it to ourselves to have at least one pair of super shoes in our wardrobe.

So go on, be daring and at least try on those red suede high heels with the diamante buckle. Slip your feet into a pair of purple leather boots, you know the ones, they have been calling at you for the last while. Or slip your toes into those silver ballet shoes and see just how dainty you can feel and look.

Most shops will keep shoes for you and allow you to pay them off by the week.

So look at shoes as something you can have fun with and go for it!
